Mandatory Certification for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Officially Implemented, Solidifying the Industry’s Safety Baseline
2025-12-05
Recently, the industry has witnessed a significant policy adjustment: electric vehicle charging equipment has been brought under the mandatory Compulsory Product Certification (CCC) regime. Effective March 1, 2025, designated certification bodies have officially begun accepting certification applications; and starting August 1, 2026, products that have not obtained a valid CCC certificate or bear the required certification mark will be prohibited from leaving the factory, being sold, or used in commercial operations. The certification process places particular emphasis on key safety performance indicators, including protection against electric shock, short-circuit protection, and fire- and flame-retardant properties, while also requiring manufacturers to establish robust quality management systems and undergo ongoing surveillance inspections. To ease the compliance burden on businesses, the policy explicitly stipulates the proactive recognition of existing conformity assessment results and provides a generous transition period to facilitate certification acquisition. This measure will effectively prevent substandard products from entering the market, drive the upgrading of industry quality standards, and provide solid safeguards for consumer rights.
